Beauregard "Buck" Tuddrussel is a Time Squad officer. He serves as the head of his unit alongside the Larry 3000, his robotic partner, and Otto Osworth, an orphan the team adopted from the year 2001.

Appearance[]

Tuddrussel is a large, muscular man with stubble. He wears the standard Time Squad uniform of a black and white suit with yellow goggles.

Personality[]

Tuddrussel has a very rambunctious, macho, and oftentimes juvenile personality. For a man whose job involves the stability of time, Tuddrussel has shown an ironic disinterest and ignorance to the historical events he maintains. This clashes with his partner Larry's effeminate, well-mannered ways, and the two often bicker. However, he generally has a friendly disposition to people he considers friends and strives for both protection and justice. When not time-traveling, Tuddrussel likes to indulge in eating junk food, roughhousing, shooting his phasers, and playing with Otto.

Tuddrussel has a soft spot for Otto, serving as a paternal figure for him. Their relationship has included teaching him how to ride a bicycle, fishing, camping, and playing games, although Otto is often unintentionally harmed. As a game, he pretends to be a superhero with Otto, and is the Future Man to Otto's Sidekick Boy.

Tuddrussel is shown to have complex developmental issues such as inflated self-image, anger control issues, and relationship problems. His intellect seems to fluctuate depending on the situation, as he has expressed scientific and historical knowledge from time to time. According to Dr. Freud, Tuddrussel suffers from an overactive super-ego, which causes him to force his will on those around him. Tuddrussel's ex-wife, Sheila Sternwell, has claimed that he is being held back by his fragile male ego, and hasn't mentally developed since early childhood.

Skills[]

What Tuddrussel may lack in brains he makes up for in brawn. He is incredibly strong and can pick up most heavy objects with little issue. In addition, he is very agile, and can run and jump wherever needed. Tuddrussel is knowledgeable about guns and weapons, and shows prowess in both using and modifying them. Although he rejects many things he finds "foo-foo" and "prissy", Tuddrussel appears to be quite skilled at cooking and needlework when prompted.

Other media[]

Tuddrussel appears alongside Larry in the poster that Cartoon Network distributed at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con to commemorate the network's 20th anniversary.

Tuddrussel is featured in an episode of MAD, Once Upon a Toon, among other older Cartoon Network characters whose shows by then had been concluded or cancelled.

Tuddrussel appears with Larry and Otto in an episode of Villainous, though he is the only one to speak.

Tuddrussel's yellow goggles appeared as face wardrobe in the mobile game, KleptoCats: Cartoon Network.

Trivia[]

  • Tuddrussel takes every opportunity he can to shout his catchphrase, "It's go time!"
  • Tuddrussel is the only main character in the show who never had an episode featuring his birthday.
  • Tuddrussel is amicably divorced from his ex-wife and fellow Time Squad patroller Sheila Sternwell, who outranks him. Tuddrussel appears to harbor some small regrets to this, as he was visibly disappointed to learn she had taken back her maiden name after their divorce, and evidently prefers not to talk about it. Sheila is also the only character in the show to refer to him only by his first name, whereas everybody else, including Otto and Larry, refer to him by his last name.
  • Tuddrussel takes great pride in his Texan heritage. Although he shows a general disinterest in history, he is quite knowledgeable when it comes to the Old West's past, especially its historical outlaws, much to the surprise of Otto and Larry.
  • According to XJ5's scan in the episode Kubla Khan't, Tuddrussel weighs 323 pounds and has an IQ of 78, a statisically low intellegence score.
  • Tuddrussel's visor often changes shape to accentuate his expression. This includes changing to eye-like orbs during moments of intense fear or shock.
  • In early episodes of the show, Tuddrussel screamed like a woman when deeply terrified.
  • Tuddrussel is never shown without his mask and goggles. He even showers with them on, as seen in Larry Upgrade and The Prime Minister Has No Clothes. He often wears other clothing directly over his own Time Squad uniform rather than changing entirely, such as a swimsuit or period-appropriate clothing.
  • As mentioned by Sheila in Ex Marks the Spot, Tuddrussel is frequently beaten up by female historical figures. He has been beaten by Joséphine Bonaparte, kicked in the stomach by Mother Teresa, lost a tooth to Eleanor Roosevelt, headbutted by Florence Nightingale, and was assaulted by Joan of Arc. In this episode, it is also revealed that he once threw Picasso down the stairs.
    • Tuddrussel has a false tooth as a result of his encounter with Eleanor Roosevelt.
    • Florence Nightingale is the only one of these women that he has assaulted. He performed a piledriver on her, a wrestling technique that slams a person's head into the floor, after which she headbutted him.
  • In the beginning of ''Floundering Fathers'', it is revealed that he kicked Karl Marx in the belly to make him create the philosophy for communism. He is also responsible for assaulting all founding fathers of the United States of America and marks a noticeable history trait by giving Benjamin Rush a broken jaw.
  • Despite his immense strength and agility, Tuddrussel appears very unskilled in actual hand-to-hand combat, which often leaves him at a disadvatage during brawls. His usual strategy is simply to pummel his enemies senseless, which only works when his opponent is weaker than him. In instances such as Ludwig van Beethoven, whom had become a skilled wrestler, Julius Caesar, whom Otto had trained in Karate, and the army of Kublai Khan, Tuddrussel was hopelessly outmatched despite his superior strength.
  • According to Larry in Ladies And Gentlemen... Monty Zuma!, Tuddrussel sleeps with a nightlight and a teddy bear named Mr. Pinky.
  • Tuddrussel appears to be a DC Comics fan. He has often mentioned Superman, Batman and the Bizarro universe.
  • In the episode Feud for Thought, it is mentioned that Tuddrussel used to have a problem with his weight while in the academy, which he elaborates on as a Glandular problem in Out with the In Crowd. It has also been stated that he used to be a member of the chemistry club.
  • Tuddrussel's country origins were inspired by series creator David Wasson, who grew up in Arkansas. Wasson almost did the voice acting for him.[1]
  • Tuddrussel was written centrally by Carlos Ramos, both of whom share a hatred of magicians.[2][3]
  • in the Latin American version of the show, Buck Tuddrussel was known as “Brito Belardo”, this was done so as to give him an easier name for the target audience to remember and pronounce, despite the surname being Basque in origin, he was still said to be from Texas.
  • Tuddrussel appears naked in The Prime Minister Has No Clothes.
