Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) was a Polish mathematician and astronomer from the 1500's.

In the Show Edit

He only appears in "Killing Time". In the episode, Copernicus is a poor farmer. Otto sees him and tells him that he's supposed to be an astronomer, and that he discovers that the Earth revolves around the Sun. Copernicus is amazed, and decides to start on that right away. He then leaves and goes into his house. Once Time Squad has gone, he runs back to where they disappeared from, and asks what the Sun is.

Appearance Edit

Copernicus is described by Tuddrussel as "medium-build, Caucasian, brown eyes, 5'8", 167 lbs." He is a tall man with a large belly, and dressed in peasant garments. He wears a gray, sock-like hat and a maroon shirt, both with patches on them. He wears brown pants. His hair is bushy and brown, almost reaching his neck.

Personality Edit

Copernicus is a simple-minded farmer. He is impressed by the idea of science, and excited by the thought of being the person to make such a major discovery. When it comes down to it, though, he is completely ignorant about science, and has a lot to learn.

In Real HistoryEdit

Nicolaus Copernicus was a mathematician and astronomer who created during the Renaissance era a model of the universe with the Sun at the center instead of the Earth, as part of his invetion of the Heliocentrism. He was a major contributor to the Scientific Revolution. This led him however into troubles with the Catholic Church, as they believed Earth was rather the center of the universe, not the Sun.
